Tools You Use
I always have a good drill, 114mm hole saw, 1" etc hole saws, and my trusty dremel. Though i need to buy a cordless one! And I find a good set of files essential.
I also use a digi caliper, and as mentioned earlier a Nimrod butane soldering iron
- Good drill
- 114mm Holesaw
- 1" + Holesaws
- Dremel
- Files
- Digital Calipers
- Nimrod Butane Soldering iron, heat gun, mini blow torch.

Hacksaw, good set of files, dremel, various grits of sand paper. Soldering iron, solder pump. Multimeter.
Those are the basic tools I use for most mods, there are others but they're the main ones.

have u got a link to a good multimeter?

Anything by Fluke will last forever, doesnt need to have all the bells and whistles but resistance, continuity, voltage (ac & dc) and current are musts.
We use something akin to this at work
Fluke 80 Series
For general testing accuracy isnt that important, as you normally jsut want to know if voltage is there or not, but for serious tweaks, like vdroop mods, accuracy becomes a factor, but then cost increases....a lot.
See what you can find on ebay, could be some bargains to be had.
As for other useful tools:
Heat gun, good set of side cutters and a good set of automatic cable strippers

sweet, thanks
Heat gun - i use an attachment to my nimrod butane soldering iron, it's been great for heatshrink.
automatic cable strippers - have u got a link?

As far as I know Draper are the only company making the decent type of strippers, where they work more like pliers than a gun. they feed in from the side and have pre set holes for the cross sectional area of the cable, where as the gun type feed in from the front and you have to wind a screw to set the csa and its not very accurate.
Draper Wire Strippers
Should be the top set for small wire, with green handles, and theres a red set for slightly larger wire.
