EDIT: With default Corsair H100i fans at 1000RPM
Hows your temps so low?.....mines 37c at 4.0ghz?....it is 23 degrees outside but still?
Don't forget it is a newer chip using 22nm process.
On average I've seen +10 deg C over room/ambient temp, with the default Corsair H100i fans locked at 1000rpm.
In Battlefield 3 I'm getting about 45 degrees C, under very high load I have seen 60 degrees C, but like I say I have locked the fans to 1000RPM.
I also have the fans on the Corsair H100i setup to push the air through the rad, I always set up my fans like this on a rad.
So cool air comes in the top of the case gets blown through the rad and is sucked out of the back of the case by the rear 120mm fan.
In bf3 im getting about 60c......i don't have my fans set up like that, i try to expel any warm air in the case from the bottom up past my gpu and out the top.
I see, but that way round your pushing/blowing already warm air from inside case through the rad.
6 and 2 3s m8, pulling in cool air through a warm or hot rad will heat the air up and then it's going into your case, and that one fan you have as an exhaust has to exhaust all the warm air in your case?......plus have you seen how many fans i have pulling in cool air in my case lol.
The rear fan I'm using shifts about 70 CFM, and the Corsair H100i's at 1000RPM will be shifting roughly 60CFM (30 each) so that's ok for the CPU Zone.
I have been thinking about adding a fan to the side panel for the GFX Zone. but temps are good so I'll leave it as it is for the time being.
Next on my list is the sound card, so I can remove the molex run from the PSU and I need a couple of internal USB extensions for the iLink's.
While I'm at it I'm going to grab a braided FP IO extension set.
On the sound card, I have narrowed it down to ...
Creative Sound Blaster Zx
or
Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional
I like the Fatal1ty Pro as it has THX (along with my speakers) and it's all black so will go better with the rest of the system.
First though I will get the USB extensions and FP IO braided cables installed on Monday or Tuesday.
I recently got a Creative Sound Blaster Titanium HD http://uk.creative.com/p/sound-blast...fi-titanium-hd Amazing sound.
Yeah that has THX, I don't know why they would leave it off the Z and Zx. Except for license fee of course. :S
Hopefully I will make my mind up and get one by the end of the week lol
In the meantime I will finish my cabling.
Finally! The backplate for my EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC ACX arrived this morning!
Typically I had emailed EVGA just yesterday to see how much longer it would be lol
So here's a couple of pictures...
Looks terrible........ give it to me. :)
Also it's the only thing thats not covered in dust :w00t:
Just get a titanium HD and be done with it. :)
Yeah I would have but I want to get one with a new "Sound Core3D" chips rather than the "X-Fi".
The Core3D version would be - Sound Blaster ZxR and I hadn't intended to spend that much lol.
Though I probably will.
£200................................whaaaaaaatttt !!!!!
Yeah exactly! I think if it was exactly what I wanted I wouldn't mind.
Maybe ASUS will pull their finger out and make a successor to the Xonar D2X, I live in hope.
I added a Scythe Ultra Quiet 1600RPM to the side of my case but for some reason I can't tune it in Thermal Radar, it's exactly the same as the back fan and that I can adjust as much as I want.
So it's making it tricky to tune the fan to the point where it's removing used air but and not putting any stress on the GPU fans.
Ive gotta similar problem......i added a 8cm fan to my fan controller and it doesnt register on the front panel......it spins but cant adjust speed?
What about on a different channel?
I've just had a look at the ASUS Z87 Manual and it says only the CPU_FAN, CHA_FAN and ASST_FAN support the Thermal Radar feature, yet they are all (Both CPU_FAN, CPU_OPT, all 4 CHA_FANs and the ASST_FANS) in the BIOS and the Thermal Radar App, so I'm still none the wiser, lol
Ive had one of these fan controllers before and never had a problem?
That's better, I've been able to lock the CPU to 4.2GHZ with DRAM set to 1600MHz.
Previously it would only lock with the DRAM set to auto which was 1333MHz.
I think it's the new BIOS v1205.
What temps you getting idle and load?
On a normal day...
0% Load 28 °C
50% Load 40 °C
100% Load 60 °C
Attachment 1008
All case and rad fans set at 1200RPM, except the from 140mm fan which is at 1050RPM so I can't hear a thing.
mines 37c idle and the last time i ran prime95 i'm sure it was high 70s lol......obviously different chips etc. :(
Yeah, Spook says he's getting 90 deg C on air on his Haswell. Not sure what clock speeds he's running though.
I think he'll be getting H100 too.
90c is high even for air.....also depends what voltage hes putting through it........sometimes you have to reseat the chip to get it right?.....i just used the paste that was on the H100i, maybe i should have scraped it off and used some MX3?
Yeah I used MX-4, they say 3 is better but I like 4 for spreadability.
I don't know if the TIM Corsair uses is their own or a rebrand.
Yeah when reseating I use the 2 stage Arctic silver TIM removal kit. Though I saw a one stage TIM removal the other day but I haven't tried it yet.
Indigo Xtreme Clean
I just use Tim cleaner. :)
Right, slightly different overclock...
4.2GHz 42x100
Min Cache 39
Max Cache* 42
Core Voltage 1.198 (reading from CPU-Z) set to auto in BIOS.
DDR: 1600
And I haven't seen the cache move from 4.2GHz, so lets see how this goes
* See cache speed in CPU-Z -> Memory -> NB Frequency
@ 4ghz
Idle: 39
Load: 67
@4.2 Ghz
Idle: 42
Load 71
@ 4.3 Ghz
Idle: 49
Load 77 - 81
@ 4.4 Unstable for now.
:)
I've decided I'm going to add a second GTX 770 to this build in the next few days.
It'll be the first time since the 8800GTX I've done a SLI setup for myself.
I will post some pictures when it gets here
Thinking about it I may not post pictures straight away as I might wait till I have a backplate and EVGA Pro bridge.
You only need one backplate for the top one....the other one you can send to me. :)
Finally, will get my second card on Tuesday assuming people are still delivering
My second EVGA GTX 770 Superclock ACX is now installed and running great!
I'll have my EVGA Pro bridge in a couple of days, but I'll be waiting a little longer for the backplate unless someone knows where I can get one in the UK?
I will post some pictures once both backplate and Pro Bridge are installed :)
I hope to have my EVGA Pro SLI Bridge tomorrow, but I can't order the backplate until the 2nd of January because that's when EVGA start taking orders again...something about the warehouse being closed for the holidays :(
Theres a guy on av forums selling 2 backplates......i will have a look later...... its in this section if you wanna look yourself.....just im going out now. http://www.avforums.com/forums/compu...assifieds.243/
Cheers mate, it's only a couple of days now so I think I'll wait. There seems to be a couple of different versions so I'm going to make sure it's the same model number.
