Project First Rig
So I have all the bits now (except for the filters for the front fans, should arrive in a few days) so I will be taking pics and such of what I am doing.
As my project name says, this is my first rig so later when I am not preparing to go to work (2nite and 2moro left on nights!) I will start looking at what i need to do.
I am thinking I will wait til the filters get here so I can fit them before putting bits in the way.:)
-
Nice one Homer......will take you 2 minutes to fit filters on......just need to unscrew the front covers off and place in front of the fan and then put front covers back on.
-
yes but everything else looks complex after that! :38:
-
Na its easy m8! I mean if Yamo can do it anyone can:whip::rofl:

hey guys first question:
I was just having a quick look around my case (Antec 900) and was wondering where do I connect the fans? I'm assuming they will go onto the mobo but i may be wrong???
-
molex connectors.... you adjust speed with the tri-cool connectors.
I take it your gonna do it at the weekend? i will e-mail you my mobile number so you can txt me or ring me if you get stuck m8. just incase im out.

As the fan filters came today I decided to fit those first, that was a job and half.
Firstly, I removed the spare fan bracket and noticed that it was broken on one of the clips. Luckily I don't need it.
After trying to fit the filter inside the bracket and failing miserably I spoke to Yam on the phone and we got the idea between us of fitting the filters between the bracket and the grill plates.
Success!!! w00t.

I also managed to get my HD fitted though it took me a minute to figure out I needed to use the long screws with the case and not the short ones which came with the HD.

That for now is all, will be fitting the mobo and other bits 2moro, when I have access to a table.
I was hoping to fit the card reader today but that thing has hordes of leads to plug into slots and I'd rather fit that when I have holes to plug the other end into.
-
Nice 1 homer....i did tell him thats where the filters go in the first place...think wires were crossed somewhere ha ha.
The card reader is probs gonna be the most difficult to fit, mines a usb 1. :)
-
lol all you said was put them on that side of the fan, all I tried to do was fit them properly!
:P
Still, thanks for your help, and yea this card reader has loads of wires, I can see cable management going out the window!
-
put the HD in the middle of HD cage you will get better airflow over it.
does the 900 not come with blue led fans anymore?
-
Well last i heard he had it up and running....we had probs with the partitioning of the hard drive but steveiboy helped out and that was the last i heard from him....can anyone smell burning? :p
-
The fire........tis pretty no?
I kid, I am writing this on the up and running comp! :w00t:
The only thing not working is the card reader, it has a 4 pin plug and needs to plug into a usb port (which i figured was one of the 9 pin blue slots). However, no matter where and how i plug it in, the cardd reader doesnt seem to want to go.
the temp gauge on the card reader seems to work though.
pics to follow, I am still in the midst of transfering files from old comp to ext hd so I can has themz on this comp.
Otherwise, seem to be ok!
Thank you all so much for your help, especially Yam who got pestered who knows how many times on the phone when it came to installing! (God knows how I managed to install the mobo CD, I swear it did nothing  )
-
Still waiting on those pics???
-
And the end result? Was it worth it?
-
lol sry guys, have had to rl stuff to sort out which has distracted me from pics.
I have ripped out the card reader as it was complete phail. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the result. The cable management is a little to be desired but overall, it runs great and the graphics are awesome.
I'm on nites this week so hopefully ill get into it over the next day or 2 to get those end pics.
