    Default Camera pics

Got a new toy for xmas.....well bought it myself as santa had nothing to do with it.....it's a canon 600D DSLR.

Just had a go at some HDR, (High Dynamic Range) where you take 3 pics of the same thing 1 normal, 1 under exposed and 1 over exposed and combine the 3....heres the 3 and the final HDR taken from my back door.

    Normal...

    Underexposed...

    Overexposed....

    HDR...

Just realised your supposed to use a tripod for this (getting one tomorrow) i just held it in my hands lol......not bad considering.

If anyones interested i have a few links to tutorials and software needed.

Just done another and messed about with contrast, colours etc.......you can ramp things up or tone things down to your liking.

Its 18.2 i think....it was a toss up between the canon 600D and the Nikon D3200 which has 24 MegaPixels which was £50 cheaper, but i wanted one with the flippy out LCD screen for movies etc which the Nikon doesnt have.....also having more megapixels above 16mpx doesnt really matter unless your gonna blow images right up etc which im never gonna do.

@ TB.... yeah i thought i had a proper camera with my fuji 12mpx compact camera when i first bought it, then wondered why the pictures werent as good as my old canon ixos 4mpx compact lol.

These DSLR cameras are amazing.....quite pricey tho but then again you only get what you pay for.

only had it a day and TB has sown the seed of having a wide angle lens for outdoor use.....omg they are expensive.

Love that old tug boat.....you have a closer one than that somewhere.....also love the close up of the bee where you can see each individual hair (you have too many pics to comment on that i like lol)......wife loves the kitchen (as they do) you got any tips for using lightroom?

    lol, cheers

The kitchen is the outlaws and I dread to think how much it cost ..................

Tips for lightroom are really to just have a play - I open a picture and start at the top option (crop / rotate / angle etc) get it "straight" then work my way down the options tweaking as I go

If you have a set that are all similar you can copy your settings (or save as a pre-set) then paste onto another pic so they are the "same" or tweak slightly from there, that can save a lot of time

And a quick one ive just played about with from a walk on Boxing day ......

Just picked up my tri-pod from currys so cant wait to do so timelapse stuff.....think i will try it out at my back door first to get some settings dialled in for when im off to kirk Yetholm in Scotland on the 9th.....it's a converted barn in the middle of nowhere.....at night it's so dark you cant see your hand in front of your face, so star timelapse should work a treat......gonna leave it taken pics every 5 seconds for a few hours and see what i get.......do i have the iso at the highest to let more light?.....or do i need to change the aperture to stay open more to let more light in?......is that what iso does?
