    Default Project Bog Standard

After TB kindly gave me his old redundant WC gear and be buying the odd bits that I needed (block, coolant, Barbs and tubing) I have entered the world of watercooling.

For those that don't know me, I'm not into the whole window and UV lights lark that goes hand in hand with WC so my aim, oddly is to create something as bland as physically possible whilst being neat. For reference the system is in and running with pleasing results on the temp front.

The down side is though that I'm not pleased with the aesthetics of it all, currently being more functional than I want it to look. With this in mind your not seeing any pictures....yet.

Phase 2 is under way at the moment and I have a company in Notts making me some brackets to mount the rad on the back of the case (P180B). This will enable me to drastically reduce the loop length and tidy things up no end.

I do how ever have some ?? My current temps (only a single loop sat on a Q9550 OC'd to 3.0G) upon boot are 29-18-28-29, after 10 loops of intel burn test and several hours of prime its max temps are 47 degrees, which i'm really please with (down 15 degrees from 62). But whats going on with core 1 10 degrees cooler than the rest at boot ?

I'll get some pics up as soon as I can.

Hello btw :P and great effort Mr Yamo.

Hi stalker m8....about time you joined us ..... nice chip btw....your temps are good aswell, but i would be a bit concerned about the 10c diff on 1 of your cores. 3/4c is ok but 10c is a bit much methinks....maybe re-seat your block with some MX2 to see if that cures it. What was the 4 cores temps running prime on small ffts?
And thanks for the compliment....nearly finished. will update as soon as i get my next delivery.
Looking forward to seeing your build m8.....welcome aboard

they all level out at about the same +- 1 degree when under load (around the 47 degree mark), at first I wondered if I had 3 stuck cores (its not uncommon so i've read for the sensors to have a min output value). In addition Intel have publicly said that the sensor output values are worthless under 50 degrees, what ever the hell that means

All that said, its getting reseated pretty soon anyway

    Lo :P

TBH 10 degrees isnt that uncommon

You might find some of this guys modding useful.... http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...a-120-3-a.html Painting the inside of the case black would be my first mod.

    Hi Stalker,

Yeah I shouldnt worry about the 10c difference, you will prob find that its slightly higher on those cores as they are being used hence they tend to level out when all 4 on load. Lapping the cpu and block can reduce the differences and lower temps but unless your planning having a really high OC I dont see the point in doing that.

    Good luck with ya project

what CPU block are u running? mounting the wrong way round can give odd temps.
For example the EK supreme performs better a certain way round, there's a sticky thread in the watercooling section

AFAIK it shouldn't make any difference on the Fuzion, unless u have a quad plate in which case u need to make sure it's lined up with the cores. The EK Supreme has a plate in it that sort of acts like a quad plate (but it isn't)

the block is Swiftech Apogee? GTZ.

Canal Engineering (Nottingham based metal workers) have called today to say the rad mount brackets are ready for collection. Wont get to pick them up until tuesday though as I am working on the house for the next 4 days.

Painting the inside of the case.....er we'll see
