    Default New CPU

In November I get my X-Mas extra money from work and I want to buy a new cpu. Ive a Gigabyte Ds3-P Mainboard (socket 775 I think). I dont want to buy a new mainboard.

Any recommendations for a new cpu?

    atm I have a C2D E6850 (2x3,00Ghz)

I would go with a Q9400 or above maybe Q9550, what are the rest of your system specs?

Yeah you mite want to go to the higher end of the quads as that processor you have is still quality. If you overclock it the performance is close to par with the Q9550.

    Check this Benchmark comparison

I definitly want a Quad core. no amd of course.
ive a ati radeon 4870 with 1gb gddr5 ram. 2GB RAM from corsair (xm2) and PSU with 525W from enermax.

I dont want to do hardware overclocking cause i loose then guarantee. the only thing i do is software OC with my GPU.
