Default Seagate Hard Drive Speed Limit

I was cleaning out my pc & noticed something odd with the jumper settings.

They where set to limit the drive to half speed 1.5GB per second instead of the full 3.0GBps

This applied to all 4 of my Seagate Drives.

If you have a Seagate Internal Drive then i suggest you take a look at the Jumper Configuration and make sure its not limited.

I've looked around on the net and found its common practice for Seagate to release drives that have Jumper limitations on them for compatability with older operating systems.

If it isn't an ultra performance drive then I don't think transfer speeds would be limited even at 1.5Gbps
The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer.
What did they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways?
I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day. I got in.

well tbh i have noticed a diffrence.

perfect example. a week ago i was moaning to Dom about how he could load BC2 maps quicker than me even though my computer is faster.

Since removing the limitation my loading times are less. (approx 25%)

i can also transfer a file from one drive to the next at an increase of about 10 MBps

not a huge gain i know but a gain is a gain

Are you referring to the jumper settings?
Alot of drives have a 1.5GB (SATA 1) jumper setting for compatability issues with older motherboards.
