Hi, my son jack has been using my old pentium 4 rig for some time now with a 6200le graphics card and 2gb ram with a 15" lcd monitor.
He likes playing cod 4 and unreal 3 but tbh its struggling with those games to a point where it either freezes or just switches off.
So i have decided to build him a new gaming rig for a surprise xmas present.

He will be using my 9 month old 8800 gts 512mb graphics card as im getting a 4870 1gb for crimbo.

I have ordered the following components.............

Abit IP43 socket 775 atx motherboard.

Intel pentium dual core E5200 2.5ghz 800fsb 2mb cache

Seagate barracuda 250gb sata11 8mb cache hard drive.

pioneer DVR 116dbk 20x DVD

Ocz 4x1gb platinum 6400/800mhz ram.

Akasa ak 965 cpu cooler

Extra value 650 watt gold psu.

Also 2 extra 80mm fans with blue leds and 2 uv lights and some green uv paint (hes only 6) ha ha.

I will be clocking the cpu to about 3.6/3.8 or maybe 4.0ghz depending on temps. and also the g-card.

will be running vista 64 ultimate.

One thing i would say is - i always try and spend that little extra on a PSU

I was going too...there was 1 left for a little bit more by ezcool and i completed my order and it accepted it...2 minutes after my conformation e-mail i got another saying the psu was out of stock.
so i just randomly picked a cheapy at the same wattage.
Was gonna use his 650 watt one from his pc but it went bang the other day when it kept rebooting for no reason. i wiggled the power lead about as i pushed it in a bit more and a blue flash and loud bang was the result....nearly crapped myself to say the least ha ha.

Just had a right old time with ebuyer....they canceled 2 out of 3 of me orders due to the billing address and delivery address being different. first order went through which is the case and fans.
So ive re ordered all the stuff again but got diff mobo and same cpu from scan. I got the better Abit IP43 mobo which i was gonna get in the first place but ebuyer dont sell them.] cost ?15 more but what the heck. also changed the hard drive for a seagate barracuda and also the dvd drive for a pioneer 1. .....phew.

Tbh i think he will be pwning me the way hes playing at the moment....hes just got a 25 kill streak on cod 4 which beat his 20 he got months ago....you wanna see him on unreal tournament 3 he pwns... every round hes at the top of his team and top overall. was watching him the other day and he was doing stuff i didnt even know you could do....he was like dad do you do that ...i replied of course son all the time....had to lie ha ha

To be fair to them they were great on the phone and ive used them in the past and had no probs....i got ripped with scan with a pair of headphones tho...returned them faulty and they said they were ok and i lost out on around ?15.
Also you cant beat the over ?49.99 free delivery...ive just had to pay scan ?6.75 and i think oc uk is over ?8.00.

DAM, i've never needed to RMA anything with scan, several times with OcUK. The first time with OcUK i got a right touch, i had a 3.4GHz S478 Intel (about 5 years ago) from them and it turned up with bent pins so i said oi i need to RMA but i want to pay the difference and get the Extreme edition, i got the EE through a few days later but never got charged on my account

But i'm sure i've had used parts from them before, so anything important i get elsewhere now (ie mobos)

Well i received the case and uv lights and 80mm fans today....Case had different side window to the one advertised which i wasnt too bothered about until i noticed you couldnt see the blue fans....so was a waste of time getn them. should just have bought black ones. Im busy trying to RMA it but you have to speak too an adviser first...28 people in the queue.

And to top it all off my re order i done today was cancelled again ha ha...so i ordered over the phone and now sorted....what i thought ive saved on P&P im going to pay on phone charges.
This is turning into an epic.

HAHAHA thanks, i alway keep atleast 2 pcs and a server (not in sig) running to make sure i have enough for my courses - mcse (microsoft certified systems engineer) u need atleast 2 pcs and a server, but my mate (my lodger) uses the rig 2 so i can kick his butt in Battlefield, lol

EDIT: I will start a project log when i start rebuilding the TJ07 (atm it's running with a maximus extreme and other slight differences)

Well ive spoke to the people at ebuyer and apparently the photo of the pc case is just for illustrated purposes only and the manufactures can change the design anytime they want....so out came the brand new pruning shears and cut the metal part of the side window away and with my trusty hammer and file coupled with a can of spray paint have rectified the problem...wish i had took photos now....oh and also sprayed the inside of the case black aswell ...wish i had have done that to me antec 900 before i put it together.

Now just waiting for the rest of the bits to be delivered....mobo and cpu is enroute.
