    Default asus eee 901 touch screen

    Hi guys, as discussed yesterday, I made up my mind and decided to upgrade my eee 901 with a tft touch screen.
    It seems like I'm taking on a big challenge and would very much apreciate any relevant comments and suggestions.
    I'm looking at different kits and hope to make up my mind rapidly, in the meantime if you come across some affordable one, please do post...
    As soon as I get started I'll post some pictures...

    The tft is on the way, bought it for ?48 inc pp from an ebay shop :

    Going to the shop tomorow to get few bits and bobs, like double sided tape and also, looking for some sort of "sucker":wink: to handle the panel...
    As soon as I receive it, I'll post some pictures and more details...

    TFT touch screen has finally arrived, it looks real good and quite strong, got some pictures of the lot...
    I should be getting started real soon, like this afternoon

    Trial number 1 has failed .... I've managed to take the laptop apart, instal the usb controllers, re-route the cam, fix the touch screen, wire it, fit it all back together, boot it and only then I realised the screen was mounted inside out.... GUTTED !!!! It cracked when I tried to ripe it off the double sided tape... Touch screen number 2 is on the way... I've left all the controller inside the case so it should be just a matter of pluggin and fitting (the right way).... I'll let you know

    Hi, screen number 2 has arrived this morning. I had it delivered with fed ex, it took exactly 6 days to come.... I managed to have it the right way this time, even done some testing and it was working fine, calibration and the lot...The plastic frame around the lcd fit back on ok and all was great.. At this point I was pleased as it took very little time to finish, as planned... Once the last screw was back on, ssd and ram, I switched it back on . The bloody thing wouldn't even load or let me acces the bios. I tried reboot, unplug, disconnect the battery, nothing !! I was fiddling with it that I noticed a bad smell coming out of it...I quickly open itl up AGAIN, lift the mother board and discover that one of the connector had melted, not too sure why...!! I got in touch with the manufacturer and hope I'll be able to get an other usb hub rapidly...
    on those photos the touchscreen is on but disconnected as the controller somehow over heated... It's a bloody nightmare, the case is so tiny there's not much room to put the circuit board, and when there is some room, the cables are to short to make the connection... I'll keep you all posted

    This morning I've received a lovely email from http://www.virtualvillage.co.uk/ and they're sending me a new controller free of charge... Can't wait to get my eee 901 back into one piece...

    I know they sent me the part last week, but havn't received anything yet apart from an invoice from HM custom for the first touchscreen..
    As soon as I get the circuit board I'll post a thread...
