Yeah I tried this the other day (before my reinstall of windows, it wasn't the cause of the reinstall).
Feels very clunky, more of an alpha than a beta IMO. Tries to do alot of things not very well. I was never a big fan of the old version.
I prefer SUPERAntispyware or Malwarebytes free or paid versions. I really like the IP blocking feature on Malwarebytes "Pro". You can sometimes get very good deals on the paid for version of SAS when you run update on the free version.

Double check you can edit your hosts file..
