    Default Ubuntu Server x64

    Hey guys,
    anyone running this ?
I'm trying to install it on a plain single 320GB SATA drive (I haven't owned a IDE drive in 6 or 7 years) on I think an ICH7 southbridge. It just will not see the hard drive. I googled it and there seems to be a driver issue/issue with this southbrige.
Anyone know how I can get this sorted ? Please help a Linux noob

got this installed now on my dual xeon server SCSI 320 controller. Installed quite quickly but I only installed the CLI as i didn't know what i was doing. So will reinstall the full ubuntu package later, just waiting on some RAM as i was only running on 256MB - bloody ECC ram

On a similar note I am just turning a small Celeron Duo system into a NAS drive - Synology kinda thing but better i had a high end Adaptec U320 SCSI card laying around and loads of drives so will make a RAID 1 array for the OS and add a couple of 2tb sata drives - not sure what controller, maybe southbridge
Till i can upgrade the disk sub-system in the dual xeon, we'll see what happens, but I really need one to be a win 2008 server and one to be linux/ubuntu.

I'll post some pics when finished

I have a ubuntu server running in work, got it as our proxy server. I stuck with the CLI as i wanted to learn the language a bit.

Got ubuntu desktop dual booted at home, i love it. If linux could get games like battlefield running on their OS i would leave windows in a flash

Yeah i have learnt a bit having to install everything from scratch through the CLI. Our new host is run on a ubuntu server with Plesk host management, it's a virtual private server so we have full root control. I have noticed Plesk has Battlefield modules to run BF2, 1942 and Counter strike servers, trying to find out about 2142, I am sure i have seen a linux server pagage for 2142, and would love to find out about becoming a ranked server provider, but that's in the future
