A "Zero Gravity FPS"

Futuremark Games Studio has announced Shattered Horizon, a new sci-fi first-person shooter from the makers of the 3DMark Benchmarking application.

In Shattered Horizons, players take control of a survivor on a Moon mining operation or an astronaught trapped on the battered International Space Station. Since the earth is surrounded by debris, there is little chance for rescue. Therefore, players will have to fight for control of limited resources.

"In zero gravity the player is set free to play in new ways," wrote lead game designer Antti Summala in a statement. "Complete freedom of movement and unique level design create an experience that is at once familiar to anyone who loves the FPS style and yet strikingly different to any game they've played before."

Futuremark was always known for its 3DMark program and has never made a game, but Jukka M?kinen, head of Futuremark Games Studio, wants to change that. "Fans of 3DMark have been asking us to make a game for many years. We're working hard to create something new, different and very, very fun," M?kinen said in a statement.

The company is going to take advantage of its PC hardware knowledge to deliver impressive visuals, but according to Futuremark, you won't need a beastly gaming rig to run Shattered Horizons.
