    Default Watercooling advice ............... :)

    Hi

A few months ago I took my first tentative steps into watercooling.

I currently have the following setup (rig in sig):

XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir Pump / Clear

Swiftech Apogee GTZ (LGA775) CPU Block

EK - Full COver 4870x2 Block

    XSPC RS360 Radiator

XSPC G1/4 to 10mm Compression Fitting

    XSPC 10/8mm PVC Tubing

    10mm Flow Springz (UV Blue)

    Feser One Coolant UV Blue

6 x Noctua NF-S12 1200 RPM 120mm Quiet Case Fan - 3 on the rad, one top exhuast, one rear exhaust and one door exhaust

The setup has worked (IMO) well but as thw weather is getting milder the temps have eeked up over the last few weeks.

My OCd Q6600 is at 3.62 24/7 and my temps idle around 36 to 40 with the GPU cores arpund low / mid 30s.

I have noticed that the load temps have also started to get higher - even gaming their getting to high 50s / Low 60s.

So after the ramblings, and some musing - would I benefit from a "beefier" pump, new res and larger tubing?

I have read that there is "negligable" difference between tube sizing, but cant help feeling that a larger bore and more pwerful pump would helo my overall temps ??

    Any thoughts on this ?

And then, if so, what kit?

I was thinking of a Laing Pump, 1/2" / 3/4" Tubing and a new Bay Res?

Any thoughts / comments would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    TB

i would get the Laing DDC 18 watt, and leave the tube size at 3/8" as u can run into space issues between the barbs with 1/2" and also with 1/2" compression fittings and you're right on the negligable effect with 1/2" - you'll never notice the difference.
A new pump & res will help,

I would also flush the rad again if your gonna change the pump and res.

I reckon you would prob benefit more having a seperate loop for the 4870x2 do you have space to put a extra 240 rad?

As for the tubing size you wont notice any difference i went from 3/8" to 1/2" and prob got 1c lower temp but that could have been due to ambient temps.. (I just like the look of fatter tubing)

Im thinking of adding an extra 120 rad (did you see my post Lloyd?) to my loop to try and reduce temps on my rig (idle 11c load 22c)

You have the same pump/res as me at moment and that a 750lph pump and find its very efficient.

    Thanks guys

Jury is still out I appear to be getting a lot of conflicting advice on different forums

I want to stick with a single loop (ATM :P)

And Jurassic, do you have your PC in a fridge ?

How the hell do you get those temps? Your water temp must be at least a few degrees over ambient room temperature

I think your expecting a lot from just 1 triple rad to cool your hardware m8, i havent even finished building mine and i know that i have to have at least a triple and a double to cool my q6600/3.6ghz and a single 4870/1gb (will clock when finished rig) on a single loop.
I would do as jurassic said and add a 240 rad to the mix for extra cooling...and as lloyd has suggested you will need the Laing DDC 18 watt m8. You really should have a seperate loop for your g-card.

Reading around the general consensus is the tubing makes little, if any, difference - but swapping the pump and the rad should give me around a 5 degree difference.

Don't get me wrong the temps ive got are fine - its just the "what more can I do?" factor :P

IMHO the things holding u back are the pump/res and your rad, i would recommend a Black ICE Extreme 120.3 or a Feser (TFC) 360 (120.3) and res - whatever takes your fancy really, but i always recommend the EK Multi-option, though the XSPC Res top for the Laing DDC3 is really good for flow, which is one of your issues with that XSPC res/pump. But not so u'd notice if u had a EK

Thanks for the thoughts and feedback guys

I posted this on several forums and got a lot of useful feedback but most of it conflicting :P

I may just swap out my pump / res / rads and tubing for the hell of it
