LOL, yeah the fans are way too loud and inefficient.
Like I said in my build log I will see how it goes with some different fans - Scythe Ultra Quiet 1600RPM (3 Pin) that I have laying around.

Fan Speed: 1600RPM
Fan airflow: 68CFM
Fan dBA: 28 dBA

With that spec it should be much better all round. Fingers crossed.
I may get time to do it tomorrow, if not over the weekend.

Are the sythes as quiet as the noctuas?

The spec says 22db and 93,4 m³/h what's that in CFM lol
So the Noctua's are quieter but they're still brown.

Looking at these corsair fans http://www.dabs.com/products/corsair...87J.html?src=3 reckon they are a tad quiter than the Noctua. and 2 for the price of one Noctua.

Not sure about the CFM of those, seems low to me.

Yeah but those are AF (Air flow) fans which are for cases.....you have to have SP (static pressure) fans for rads and coolers.....it also tells you in the description m8.


Air Series AF fan models perform best in unrestricted spaces with at least 3cm of clearance, and they’re ideal for mounting at the rear or top of your PC case as exhaust fans for your PC’s motherboard and CPU, graphics accelerators, and other components that fill the case with heat. They work equally well as unrestricted intake fans for areas like side panels or bottom intakes.

For high restriction areas like hard drive cages or in other tight spaces where there’s less air volume, check out our Air Series SP models of high static pressure fans.

am i correct in thinking the high performance is the same at 1450rpm but then can reach higher speeds and airflow when ramped up?

Yeah that's right.
It doesn't say if they are PWM or not?

what is pwm?....something to do with voltage?.....my fan controller has only 3 connectors where as the corsair fans have 4, i had to cut the connectors to fit the 3 on them.

PWM = Pulse Width Modulation IIRC, yeah here you go..

Right...... so at say around 1400rpm what is the quietest fans that shift a shit load of air?
